Была рупором Республиканской партии Джефферсона [ Jeffersonian Republicans] и стала известна своими нападками на администрацию Дж. Вашингтона [ Washington, George]II1) Город на севере центральной части штата Колорадо, восточный пригород г. Денвера [ Denver]. 276,3 тыс. жителей (2000), один из крупнейших городов штата. Производство спортивных товаров, электроники, авиадеталей, точных инструментов, полиграфическая промышленность. Основан в 1891 во время т.н. "серебряной лихорадки" [silver boom], процветал как центр добычи вплоть до краха рынка серебра в 1893; статус города с 1903. Долгое время Орора была крупным военным центром (Авиабаза Национальной гвардии Бакли [Buckley Air National Guard Base], база ВВС Лоури [Lowry Air Force Base] (1994), Медицинский центр сухопутных войск имени Фицсиммонса [Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center] (закрыт в 1999)); к северо-востоку от города находился Международный аэропорт Стейплтон [ Stapleton International Airport].2) Город на северо-востоке штата Иллинойс, западный пригород г. Чикаго [ Chicago], на р. Фокс [Fox River]. 142,9 тыс. жителей (2000; в 1990 - 99,5 тыс. человек). Развивается как жилой пригород [ bedroom community] на федеральном шоссе № 88 [I-88; interstate highway] в т.н. Иллинойском научно-исследовательском "коридоре" [Illinois Research and Development Corridor]. Пищевая, целлюлозно-бумажная промышленность, производство инструментов, дорожно-строительного оборудования, тракторов. Университет [Aurora University] (1893). Основан в 1834, статус города с 1837; остановка дилижансов [ stagecoach], отправлявшихся на Запад; в середине XIX в. - депо железной дороги "Чикаго-Берлингтон-Куинси" [Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad].
